Our Lighthouses

Use our interactive map to view our lighthouses and buoys around the coast of Ireland.

Our Role in Maritime Safety

We superintend and manage all lights, buoys and beacons around the coast of Ireland. We provide most of the main lighthouses and other marine aids to navigation outside harbour limits.

Irish Lights Aids to Navigation

We maintain over 300 marine aids to navigation around the coast of Ireland - lighthouses, buoys, beacons, racons, Automatic Identification Systems (AIS) transmitters.

Local Aids to Navigation

We superintend and manage all Local Aids to Navigation - those provided by local responsible bodies or individuals, located at the approaches to ports or harbours.

Wreck Response

A new wreck can be very dangerous for shipping. We are responsible for marking or removing wrecks in Republic of Ireland waters (in the absence of a harbour authority with such a responsibility).

24-Hour Emergency Response

We have 24-hour monitoring of our Aids to Navigation, but all systems can fail. If you notice a problem with any of our services, please contact us at our 24-hour emergency number: +353 1 280 1996

Statutory Consent

You need to obtain a Statutory Consent from us to establish, alter or discontinue Local Aids to Navigation in ports, harbours and coastlines within the jurisdiction of a Local Lighthouse Authority.

Our ship, ILV Granuaile, is a multi-functional vessel that can operate in difficult conditions. It services buoys and provides a versatile platform for marine activities - and is available for hire.
